We would like to invite you to join us on our French Wine Cruise July 21st – 28th 2013, onboard Azamara Club Cruises’ Journey. In 2012, Cruiser’s Choice Awards rated Azamara Club Cruises Number One for Best Overall, Best for Value, and Best Service in the small ship category.

Our departure will be from Barcelona, cruising along the sparkling southern coast of France, ending in Monte Carlo. Mary and I will be hosting a private tasting featuring regional wines of our ports of call including some of my favorite Rosés of summer and historic wines of the Rhone Valley. A private winemaker dinner is included (more on that below) as well as optional small group shore tours to top wine regions and a three day pre-cruise stay in Barcelona to visit the exciting Spanish wine regions of Priorat and Penedes.
We are happy to announce a new and unique inclusion. Due to some changes in the original itinerary, one of California’s top Rhone producers, Tablas Creek Vineyard from Paso Robles, will now be onboard our ship.
Our itinerary had always included an overnight in Marseille and it had been our plan to offer an optional shore tour of Chateauneuf du Pape on July 23 . Instead, we’ve been invited by Tablas Creek's winemaker Neil Collins to join his group for a private lunch and tasting at their co-founding winery, Chateau de Beaucastel. This is one of Chateauneuf du Pape’s most iconic wineries and, like Tablas Creek, is a winery that consistently receives mid to high 90 point scores from both Robert Parker and Wine Spectator. The really great news is that due to the efforts of Food & Wine Trails, we are including this excursion at no additional cost. Our love of Rhone varietals coupled with the opportunity to travel with Tablas Creek and visit the famous Chateau de Beaucastel, and enjoy their great Rhone wines, is just “too good to pass up”. This is truly a stunning estate, which we have visited in the past.
We’ve also been invited and have decided to join Neil at the Tablas Creek onboard winery dinner and later at their technical wine tasting where we will enjoy great wines and hospitality.
There’s more: Azamara has offered at no new cost a selection of beer and spirits (in addition to wine) throughout the cruise as part of their elevated amenity package. In addition, on Monday July 22 in Marseille, Azamara is hosting a complementary evening event they call “An Evening at the Palais du Pharo”. Here is their description: “Travel by boat to the entrance of Marseille's Vieux Port, then walk a short distance to the stunning palace with fabulous views of the harbor below. Enjoy a French band as you stroll the grounds, play a game of Petanque and taste your way through delectable Provencal cuisine and wine.”
We look forward to toasting you with a great glass of Rhone wines onboard the Azamara cruise ship Journey!
Sincerely,
Bill & Mary Traverso
