Sonoma Magazine

Onboard Programs

A F&WT wine cruise is two programs rolled into one. You have all the onboard entertainment and creature-comforts of a deluxe cruise, plus a private-to-the-group, educational wine program with private parties, tastings, seminars and a winemaker's dinner.

September 8, 2017 Welcome Reception
Join your host Don Hartford and fellow group members for an open-bar Welcome Reception with passed hors d'oeuvres and the wines of Hartford Court and La Crema.

Seminar & Tastings

September 11, 2017 - La Crema Winery
6 La Crema Pinot Noirs from 6 Dynamite Wine Regions

Explore 5 distinct Pinot Noirs from 5 Wine Regions of California and Oregon – including a seated tasting of La Crema’s Russian River Valley Pinot Noir, its Anderson Valley, Carneros, Sonoma Coast, Arroyo Seco and Willamette Valley of Oregon Pinot Noirs.

The tasting will be led by Hailey Jackson Hartford Murray, a co-owner of La Crema Winery and Certified Wine Specialist.  Hailey will take you on a wine journey along the west coast of the United States from the North in Oregon’s Willamette Valley down South to the Arroyo Seco in Monterey describing key characteristics of each of the five regions and the wines made from that region against the back drop of a spectacular photo montage of each region’s Vineyards.   Guests will arrive at the tasting and be welcomed with a glass of Saralee’s Vineyard Chardonnay highlighting the nuances of this iconic vineyard which is the new home to La Crema in the heart of the Russian River Valley.

September 16, 2017 - Hartford Family Winery
A Tasting of 7 High Personality Single Vineyard Designated Hartford Court Pinot Noirs

Don Hartford, owner of Hartford Family Winery, will pour for your enjoyment from his Cellar of highly rated Pinot Noirs – the Winery’s Hartford Court:
  • Arrendell Vineyard Pinot Noir from the Russian River Valley (97 Point Parker Rating) described by Mr. Parker as “opulent, with stunning purity and texture”
  • Fog Dance Vineyard Pinot Noir from Green Valley of the Russian River Valley (96 Points, Parker) described by Mr. Parker as “absolutely prodigious with notes of blood orange, rose petals and black currant fruit”
  • Velvet Sisters Vineyard Pinot Noir from Anderson Valley, (96 Points, Parker), described by Mr. Parker as “sexy” – (Need he have said more?)
  • Seascape Vineyard Pinot Noir from the Sonoma Coast (95 Points, Parker), described by Mr. Parker as being a “distinctly Burgundian Cote de Nuits Pinot Noir”
And 3 other specially chosen and highly rated Hartford Court single vineyard pinots. Don will lead the group through a seated tasting of each wine – telling the story of each Wine’s vineyard and how that vineyard’s personality is reflected in its wine.

Preceding the tasting guests will enjoy a short reception with a glass of the 95 Point Hartford Court Stone Cote Chardonnay which Robert Parker described as having “a terrific wet rock powdered stone-like minerality along with beautiful aromas of exotic fruits, great intensity, full body and terrific acidity”.

REVIEWS

Past Sonoma Magazine wine cruiser:

"Oceania and Sonoma Magazine Wine Cruise were amazing--quality of service, accommodations, wine tour experiences, wine tasting, and opening reception. Also the wine dinner at Jacques was a wonderful culinary and wine experience--we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. We absolutely loved the entire cruise and meeting new 'wine friends.' Thanks for arranging amazing vacations and memories!"  L. Campbell (Phoenix, AZ)
