There is no better way to enjoy wine than at its source, and in Europe you can find some of the world’s most renowned and famous vineyards.
Join me and my wife Cara, along with Winemaker, Brooks Painter and his wife, Beth in May 2017, on a wine cruise where you will explore the wineries of Spain, Portugal and France along with discovering and exploring the art, food, sights and history of these magnificent countries.
Wine cruises allow travelers to enjoy the excitement of discovering new places, while exploring the art of wine-making at vineyards known around the world and the vineyards of Bordeaux are among the most famous. The sheer variety of exemplary wines produced here is simply staggering.
In Spain, tour Bilbao’s extraordinary Guggenheim Museum where the building is as much of a draw as the collection of modern artworks. When you arrive in London, ride to the top of the London Eye for a bird’s eye view of Big Ben, and peruse the peerless artifacts in the British Museum. From the beaches of Biarritz to the castles of Bordeaux, this is the one wine cruise not to be missed.
Guests of V. Sattui will enjoy an onboard wine program with a private reception, casual wine hours, a winemaker’s dinner in one of the ship’s specialty restaurants, and exclusive wine tastings featuring the award-winning wines of V. Sattui.
Before the cruise even departs, guests can arrive in Lisbon two days early for a pre-cruise program that includes a full-day tour of the nearby Alenquer wine region and a city tour of Lisbon and its famous Belem District. During the cruise itself, there will be opportunities to attend optional and exclusive shore tours in the ports of Oporto and Bordeaux. Taste the new and old wines from Portugal’s Douro Valley during visits to two prestigious Port Lodges. Sample wines at a few of the Left Bank’s most beautiful and prestigious wine estates.
Our floating hotel for this 8-day wine cruise is Oceania Cruise’s Nautica. A recent multimillion-dollar transformation created a virtually new ship that is both sleek and elegantly charming. Her decks are resplendent in the finest teak, custom stone and tile work, and her lounges, suites and staterooms boast luxurious, neo-classical furnishings.
Nautica offers every luxury you may expect on board one of Oceania Cruises’ stylish ships. She features four unique, open-seating restaurants, a world-class fitness center and spa, eight lounges and bars, a casino and 342 lavish suites and luxurious staterooms, nearly 70% of which feature private verandas. With just 684 guests to pamper, their professionally trained European staff provide that guests will want for nothing.
We have once again partnered with our long-time collaborator, Food & Wine Trails, to produce this cruise, and their wine cruise consultants will help you create the vacation of your dreams.
