Onboard Programs

A F&WT wine cruise is two programs rolled into one. You have all the onboard entertainment and creature-comforts of a deluxe cruise, plus a private-to-the-group, educational wine program with private parties, tastings, seminars and a winemaker's dinner.

BORDEAUX STYLE WINES – Two Seminars – Each of 2 hours duration
We call them Cab, Merlot and Meritage but they are all descendants of the same grapes grown in the Bordeaux region of France, recognized as producing the some of the world's finest wines.

SEMINAR 1 - THE SINGLE VARIETALS & MERITAGE WINES - The “Nobel” Standalone as well as the Blended Wines – Duration 2 hours
Red Bordeaux includes five major varietals, called the "noble five" namely, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot and Malbec.  We will discuss and taste the characteristics of each.

A great challenge for a winemaker is to take existing wines and blend them to produce a new wine which shows the finest characteristics of its components with a balanced and integrated style.  The blended nature of these wines does not qualify for varietal names on the label so they can only be labeled "red wine" or "white wine" however American winemakers came up with the name "Meritage", (merit + heritage). These wines are in fact American Bordeaux.  Wines to be tasted include:
·         Allure Meritage
·         Entice Cuvée
·         Clarissa Vin Rouge
·         Amuse Barrel Selection

SEMINAR 2 - RESERVE WINES – CABERNET AND CABERNET BLENDS – Duration 2 hours
Our winery is a diverse business with over twenty-six individual vineyard blocks scattered across Napa and Sonoma. From the best of our fruit we make a small quantity of Reserve Wines in the style of some of the world's greatest Bordeaux wines.

Reserve Wines - Cabernet Dominant
·         Inspire - Cabernet Sauvignon
·         Interlude - Cabernet Sauvignon
·         Impulse - Cabernet Sauvignon
·         Ingénue - Cabernet Sauvignon

Reserve Wines - Meritage Style
·         Intrigue - Mélange
·         Cherish - Mélange
·         Ravish - Mélange
