This exceptional day in the Lubéron region of Provence includes a tour, tasting and signature lunch by Michelin star chef Eric Sapet, paired with La Cavale's estate wines. You’ll also have time to soak up the atmosphere of the lovely village of Lourmarin.
The Lubéron is the setting of Peter Mayle’s acclaimed book A Year in Provence, and Lourmarin is the village he chose to settle in and spend the rest of his life. Like the author, your guide grew up in the English-speaking world, but fell in love with Provence and has been calling it home for over twenty years. As a food and wine expert, she will spend the day introducing you to the picturesque landscapes, historic towns and typical foods and wines from one of the most beautiful regions in the world.
After an hour’s drive through beautiful countryside you will reach the stunning wine estate La Cavale - part of the new generation of contemporary chic estates. It is situated in the heart of the Lubéron, a natural regional park at the foot of the mountain range of the same name. La Cavale reflects its owner Paul Dubrule's (co-founder of the international hotel group ACCOR) wish to create an exceptional wine center within the Lubéron. The estate was designed by renowned architect Jean-Michel Willmotte and built stone by stone by the Compagnons du devoir (a traditional French fraternity of craftsmen).
Begin with an informative tour with the estate guide, and then enjoy a comparative white wine aperitif tasting before sitting down to Michelin Star Chef Eric Sapet's signature three-course lunch paired with estate wines. After lunch, there will be free time to browse through the estate's boutique, with a wide variety of up-market Provençal wares, estate wines and a fine selection of spirits.
Just a short ten minute drive from the estate is Lourmarin, one of France’s most beautiful villages. There will be time for shopping in the smart boutiques, or to visit Provence’s first renaissance Chateau and the art galleries showcasing the fine characterful properties that have been a witness to Lourmarin’s long history. Your guide will take pleasure in outlining the interesting history of the village, and for history buffs or the more curious she will offer an optional historical walking tour of the village.
