Food & Wine Trails is pleased to have the opportunity to partner with both Joseph Swan & Moshin Vineyards for a 8-day river cruise from Budapest to Passau.
For over 50 years, Joseph Swan Vineyards has been a small family owned winery located in the heart of Sonoma County, California’s famed Russian River Valley. Led by owner & winemaker, Rod Berglund they specialize in vineyard designated Pinot Noir and old vine Zinfandel, they also produce small lots of other wines including Rhône style wine, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay. Swan Vineyards strive to make interesting wines that reflect their unique origins.
Winemaker Rick Moshin produces natural, terroir-driven, and delicious wines in the Russian River Valley. He sustainably farms his own prized Goldridge-soil Pinot Noir vineyards, plus he gently makes small-lot, premium wines in the gravity-flow winery of Sonoma County. Celebrating their 30th anniversary in 2019, Moshin is still family-owned and -operated, and their focus remains on hand-crafting some of the highest-quality wines in the Russian River Valley AVA.
Get to know and adore these fine vintners while sailing Uniworld’s “boutique hotel” S.S. Maria Theresa and enjoy Food & Wine Trails onboard wine programs exclusively for Swan & Moshin guests. These private events include a casual wine hour, seminar & wine tasting and a wine-paired dinner with your hosts wines. As you sail along the mighty Danube River, between Budapest and Passau, you’ll visit six different ports where you’ll be having the time of your life exploring the rich cultures, old-world capitals, charming towns and villages.
Prior to embarking Uniworld’s S.S. Maria Theresa in Budapest, Hungary, don’t miss out on Food & Wine Trails’ 2-Night Pre-Cruise Program – Discover Hungarian Wines. This pre-cruise program is curated exclusively for Swan & Moshin guests and is a great way to get to know your fellow cruisers while exploring the medieval town of Eger, one of Hungary’s wine capitals and home to the famed “Bulls’ Blood” red wine. You’ll also have the opportunity to participate in Food & Wine Trails optional Wachau Valley shore tour – Wonderful Wines of Wachau – and sample some of the world’s best white wines.

The S.S. Maria Theresa features luxurious accommodations and numerous personal touches, ensuring a truly indulgent and unforgettable voyage. In Cruise Critic’s words, this resplendent ship “is regal in its opulent 18th-century decor, a floating homage to the former Austrian empress….Besides indulgent dining and an elegant atmosphere, this is one of the prettiest ships out there.” Named in honor of one of the Habsburg Empire’s most beloved rulers, the one-of-a-kind S.S. Maria Theresa is truly a work of art.
