PREVIEW - Meet Me In Paris
Ideology Cellars Optional 3-night Pre-Cruise Package

This pre-cruise package is not yet available for purchase. Specific details for this program are not yet finalized and the tour elements are subject to change. An email announcement will be sent to all confirmed group members approximately 8-9 months prior to departure.

Romantic, vain, convivial, petty—defining Paris is a favorite pastime of the Parisians themselves. France’s capital is home to haute couture, masterpieces of art and architecture, and temples of fine dining, but also cozy bistros, vibrant ethnic enclaves, and bohemian cafés. One of the most visited destinations in the world, the City of Light glitters brighter than ever.
You are invited to meet your fellow group members in Paris for an intimate three night pre-cruise program escorted by two Food & Wine Trails representatives. You’ll spend all three nights in a charming, art-design hotel on Paris’ historic Left Bank. On the first night, you’ll enjoy a special Welcome Dinner. Then the following day is yours to spend on your own. On the third day you’ll explore the French wine-making region of Champagne with a well-known regional expert as your guide.
Although Paris does grandeur and drama better than any place, its greatest pleasures are its simplest ones: the rustic charm of a neighborhood bistro; the tranquility of a churchyard; the crunch of a perfect baguette. All of this comes together along the Left Bank, or the Latin Quarter. This is Paris’ most historical district, where Picasso, Hemingway and so many others found inspiration. Here you’ll find the Musée d'Orsay (home to one of the world’s greatest impressionist art collections), the Sorbonne, the Eiffel Tower, and the Luxembourg Gardens. This is where the city grew up and came of age and where we found the hotel for your Paris stay.
Day 1 │ Independent Arrival in Paris & Welcome Dinner [D]
Guests will arrive in Paris independently and transfer to the hotel on their own.
This evening, you’ll meet your fellow group members at a Welcome Dinner held at Lapérouse. Founded in 1766 on the banks of the picturesque River Seine, Lapérouse resides in one of Paris’ most exclusive addresses, a historic mansion overlooking the Ile de la Cite. The restaurant is considered to be one of the most prestigious restaurant reservations in Paris, and a triumph in terms of French cuisine.

Day 2 │ Independent Day [B]
Buffet breakfast is included this morning in the hotel restaurant.
Today is your day to explore Paris on your own. Visit the Louvre, the Musée d’Orsay, walk along the Ile Saint-Louis, stroll the Champs-Élysées, see the Arc de Triomphe, take a scenic boat ride on the Seine on one of the bateaux mouches, window shop on Rue Saint-Honoré, or visit Paris’ most beloved monument—the Eiffel Tower. The day and evening are yours—so enjoy!
Day 3 │ Champagne Region [B, L]
Buffet breakfast is included this morning in the hotel restaurant.
A little over 60 miles from Paris, the Champagne wine region is a historical province best known for its production of sparkling wine. Your guide for the day was selected based on the recommendation from Ravenswood Winery President and Winemaking Hall of Famer, Joel Peterson, who boasted, “He is among the best wine guides I have ever hired.” You will first walk through a vineyard then visit Roger Coulon, an 8th generation, single vineyard producer for a tasting and lunch. The second visit will be to Taittinger, to taste their wines and to explore their labyrinth of chalk caves initially dug in the 4th century for construction materials and then used during historic times of conflict to harbor Christians, Jews and the town folk during WWII. Dinner this evening is on your own.
Day 4 │ Transfer to Lyon / Embarkation [B]
Buffet breakfast is included this morning in the hotel restaurant.
On your last day in Paris, the group will transfer to the pier where you and your luggage will board the beautiful SS Catherine for your river cruise.
